hello new shoes

Jeffrey Campbell lookalikes - Chockers
Finally caved and bought myself a pair of JC Lita dupes after dwelling on them ever since I wrote this post at the start of January. After trawling the internet trying to find a nice pair that didn't break the bank, I finally settled on this pair from Chockers as I'd already heard that the site was pretty reliable. The delivery was fast so I definitely have no complaints in that area, and these were actually on sale reduced from £50 to £35 so I felt as if I was getting a bargain! I originally had my heart set on this Missguided pair but they sold out; these are so similar if not nicer so I'm chuffed. I actually have an occasion to wear them to on Friday so I'll let you know how they shape up - from tottering around my house every now and again they do seem to be pretty comfy, but only a long night out will tell! What do you think of my latest purchase?

bomber

1 2 3 4 5
I love my denim jackets and other such items to bits, however I can't help but feel that with spring fast approaching I need to welcome a new style of cover up into my ever growing wardrobe in the form of a bomber. I wasn't a massive fan of the varsity, baseball jackets that were everywhere last year, but the new, slightly bold and garish patterns on these hoodless bombers are right up my street. They're the perfect balance between casual and fashionable, and I think they'd look great with denim or a dress as the weather heats up and the tan starts to show. I'm currently torn between hawaiian florals, baroque or leopard print. Will you be investing in a bomber jacket, and which is your favourite from my selection?

SHIRT - BLANCO/JACKET - VINTAGE/JEANS - TOPSHOP/BELT - TOPSHOP/RING - DOROTHY PERKINS/DR MARTENS - CLOGGS
Hello one and all! It feels like forever since I last posted, and I guess in blog world it has been a pretty long time. As you all know I was in Spain over half term (had the most hilarious, brilliant, crazy week) and when I arrived home my parents had completely redecorated my bedroom! I then spent the whole weekend and most of last week moving all my crap back in and trying to finish my textiles coursework, the deadline for which is this Friday, uh oh. Life has resumed it's normal pattern this weekend, however, so I have had the opportunity to BLOG.

I bought this top from Blanco whilst in Spain - apparently there are stores in the UK but I have never seen one! I love the print, and can see myself getting really into the whole ~baroque trend~ as spring/summer approaches.

So that's all from me! Will hopefully have some more posts up this week; hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

new additions

TOPSHOP CREAM BLUSH IN 'HEAD OVER HEELS'/MAC POWDER BLUSH IN 'MOCHA'/17 MIRROR SHINE LIPSTICK IN 'BEEHIVE'
NECKLACE FROM TOPSHOP
This is a scheduled post, as right now I am in (not so sunny) Spain! I thought I would quickly show you a few of the things I have purchased this month following the end of my January spending ban. I haven't gone crazy, but have bought a few things that I've had my eye on for a little while.
I actually bought the MAC blusher from this website. They sell discounted makeup and I know these websites can be unreliable, but this one was recommended to me. I'm pretty certain that the product is genuine, however I can't vouch for everything the site sell so don't hold me to it if you order something from them that seems a bit suspect! The delivery was quick, the P&P cheap, and on the day I ordered there was an extra 10& off of all the MAC products so this actually came to roughly £8 which is SUCH a bargain for such a high quality product! I have only worn it a couple of times, but the colour is absolutely gorgeous and I am so impressed.

Hope you're all having a lovely week.

CARDIGAN - H&M/JEANS - TOPSHOP/DR MARTENS - CLOGGS/TSHIRT - H&M/NECKLACE - TOPSHOP/WATCH - SEKONDA
It has snowed yet again! Quite a casual one today as I had to go out briefly this morning but then have spent the whole afternoon trying to fit pretty much my entire wardrobe into a minuscule suitcase - something that is proving to be quite challenging! My family really need to sort out our suitcase collection - we have massive ones and tiny ones but no in between! I am so excited for my trip to Spain, and can't wait to tell you all about it when I get back.

The jeans I'm wearing are brand new and I love them so much. They are (of course) my favourite style, the Topshop 'Leigh', and are a lovely acid wash. I have my heart set on a pair of Cheap Monday high waisted skinnies, but at around £50 a pair a girl can only dream!

There is a post scheduled for the week, so sorry if it's a bit quiet over here but I will have lots of exciting stories about my antics in Spain to keep you entertained when I get back. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

white winter hymnal

DENIM JACKET - DIY/JUMPER - TOPSHOP/LEGGINGS - TOPSHOP/FAUX FUR STOLE - NEW LOOK/DR MARTENS - CLOGGS
These were taken at the weekend the morning after we had a little snow! I'm really not a fan of snow (the ice that follows is treacherous for a person as clumsy as me) but it does make for a nice photograph, that much cannot be denied! I am, of course, sporting my new wardrobe staple in the form of a studded denim jacket - the full DIY post is here; I literally cannot get enough of it! I also gave my faux fur stole from New Look it's first outing - I'm not entirely sure why I haven't worn it before!

In other unrelated news, I was lucky enough to go along to watch the Britain's Got Talent auditions last night with two of my friends! The stars were clearly aligned for us, as we managed to get tickets for the very front row of seats directly next to Simon Cowell himself - he even shook my hand and gave us a cheeky wave and a wink (which I ever so sneakily managed to catch on video!). We also shook hands with judges David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Carmen Alectra who was standing in for Amanda. The absolute highlight of the evening was when Ant and Dec came on stage and spoke directly to us as a result of our girlish screams, talk about starstruck! It was a fantastic evening full of laughs at diabolical acts and standing ovations at ones that were actually pretty good. It was so interesting to see how shows such as BGT work behind the scenes (so much is set up, let me tell you); I heckled myself hoarse, cringed at some deluded auditionees and mingled with some celebrities which of course is never a bad thing!

Lastly, I am so excited because this weekend I leave for a school trip to Spain for half-term! Although the weather forecast for where we're going isn't great, I'm sure we will all have a great time. Obviously due to this I will not be posting much next week, however I may well set up one or two scheduled posts - I cannot guarantee this though as I'm not sure I'll have time on Saturday to write posts and pack and do all the other millions of things that are on the agenda! If this is the case, then apologies.

Hope you've all had a lovely week, and are looking forward to the weekend (and/or half-term) as much as I am!

DIY studded denim collar

This really is such an easy thing to do that it doesn't really require a huge long-winded explanation; to be honest I just wanted to show you all my new favourite item of clothing!

You will need: a denim jacket (or any item for that matter) of the style/size you desire
some press studs (I buy mine here
a surface/tool to press the backs of the studs down - I recommend the edge of an
old table (bearing in mind it may get chipped) or a flat butter knife (be careful!)

As I said this is SO SIMPLE that I don't really feel the need to explain in detail - you just need to push the studs through the denim in the pattern/design you want and flatten down the backs so that the studs stay firmly in place and you don't get poked.
I believe that it's possible to buy studs with sharper points that will easily go through denim, however I have used normal ones and although it sometimes takes a little wiggling and elbow grease, they do eventually go through. Obviously if you have an extremely thick bit of material it may be slightly more difficult - you just need to judge it yourself really! The site I buy them from has quick delivery and has always been really good - I've ordered from them on numerous occasions. I've also known people to order studs from ebay.
The jacket was given to me by a friend of my mum's - I would recommend buying a cheap one from either a charity shop or a vintage shop, because not only is the denim softer, it's not loads of money wasted if it doesn't go quite to plan! Personally I prefer the shape of a men's denim jacket as it's larger, slightly more boxy, and looks a little more vintage and authentic.

I decided to do this little pattern with some large and small studs on the collar tips, however I may well decide to add some more in the future - perhaps on the pocket flap too. It's entirely up to you how you want to do it and you should just experiment. It's your jacket and your 'design' - you can have as many/as little studs as you want wherever you want them!

I don't know if this has been helpful to any of you or not! I may do some more DIY posts if I can think of things to make - let me know if you have any special requests! An outfit post will follow this week showing the jacket in action..

for those perfect glittery nails

BARRY M NAIL PAINT IN 'PINK IRIDESCENT'/TOPSHOP NAILS IN 'GYPSY NIGHT'/MODELS OWN IN 'SILVER FOX'/REVLON NAIL ENAMEL IN 'FACETS OF FUCHSIA'
I'm not a huge one for extravagant nail art (mainly because I'm just not blessed with the skills required to do such things), so the recent explosion of glittery, sparkly, beautiful nail varnishes onto the high street made me extremely happy. It has never been easier to make your plain nails look professional and a little more artistic!
Shown above are four of my favourite offerings, ranging from cheap and cheerful Barry M to slightly more pricey Revlon. All four of these shades vary in colour/glitteryness (a new word?) but all share a place in my heart. I highly recommend each and every one!

What are your favourite ways to wear your nails? Are you as big a fan of the glitter thing as I am?
